Hemeroids Surgery

Hemeroids surgery can be a last resort if all the natural healing methods didn’t take effect. Most of the time sitz baths, a change in diet and exercise is enough. Severe cases however should consult a specialist to help them get rid of their piles forever.

A traditional hemorrhoidectomy is painless because you will be given anesthesia. During surgery an incision is made around the inflamed tissue. The vein is tied off to prevent bleeding and then the hemeroids get removed. While it sounds unpleasant most patients get sent home immediately after treatment.

After the anesthetic wears off it is possible that you experience pain but your doctor surely can prescribe something for it. Although you will finally be free of hemeroids you still have to make sure that thy won’t come back. A change in diet and exercise is the best bet you have here.

External Haemorroids

External haemorroids stem from the inferior haemorrhoidal veins becoming engorged with blood at the bottom of the anus. They typically arise from excessive straining when passing stool, prolonged sitting, pregnancy, constipation and diets which are low in fibre.

The painful symptoms may be relieved with analgesic ointments and creams. However these products don’t cure haemorroids. To get rid of them you have to make sure to not get them in the first place. As paradox as this sound it is the only way. This can only be done with a change in lifestyle and especially diet.  Everything you do has to have one goal: to keep your stool as soft as possible so you won’t strain during bowel movement.

Internal Haemorroids

Internal haemorroids may be harmless at first although they can start to bleed when straining too much during the passing of stool. Signs for that include blood on toilet paper or in the toilet bowl.

A doctor will make his diagnosis with a thin tube-like instrument called an anoscope. To look for other sources of bleeding a specialist may examine the inside of the colon.

Internal haemorroids may protrude outside the anus and then become irritated and painful. This is condition is called prolapsed haemorroids. They can be removed by method of rubber band ligation (cutting off of blood circulation), sclerotherapy (injection of a chemical solution), infrared coagulation (hemorrhoidal tissue is burned) or classic surgery called hemorrhoidectomy.

Bleeding Haemorroids

Toilet Paper

Bleeding haemorroids are the biggest problem you will encounter when dealing with piles. This may vary between small streaks on your toilet paper up to blood dripping into the toilet bowl.

The first step to relieve this condition is to add more fiber to your diet and drink lots of water. The fiber and the fluids will make your stool more soft. This way it won’t rupture the walls of the inflamed veins. Medication can also bring relief but will do nothing to cure the haemorroids. Surgery can be a last resort if the condition persists inspite of good hygiene practices, home care remedies, a healthy diet and regular exercise.

Some of the best remedies for these symptoms include:

Treating haemorroids is important if you want to escape the pain and live a normal life again. Here are some tips in treating haemorroids naturally:

  • Eat more fiber. Fiber-rich foods like vegetables and fruit will make your stool softer so it is easier to pass. This will eliminate straining during bowel movement.
  • Never scratch the affected area. Even if it is itching like hell. Never touch the affected area. It may get infected and even bleed.
  • Do regular sitz baths to improve blood circulation in the affected area.
  • Change your overall lifestyle. Try to do more exercise. Eat healthier. Avoid stress. Do not sit for a prolonged period of time. All these small changes can lead to great results.

Covidien Launches EEA Hemorrhoid & Prolapse Stapler Set

Covidien, a leading global provider of healthcare products, announced that it is entering the hemorrhoidopexy market for the first time with EEATM Hemorrhoid & Prolapse Stapler Set with DST SeriesTM Technology.

The instrumentation features advances in hemorrhoid stapler technology and design that address what surgeons say are their biggest challenges in performing the hemorrhoidopexy procedure. Covidien is demonstrating the new technology at the American Society of Colon & Rectal Surgeons annual scientific meeting this week.

Hemorrhoids are one of the most common ailments in the U.S., affecting more than half the population, according to industry estimates. Stapled hemorrhoidopexy, in which internal hemorrhoidal tissue is internally stapled and excised, is considered a less painful alternative to surgical hemorrhoidectomy.

The EEA Hemorrhoid & Prolapse Stapler Set is designed to facilitate each of the four steps in the hemorrhoidopexy procedure – dilation, purse-string placement, tissue incorporation and stapling and resection. It is the only circular stapler kit equipped with a detachable anvil with holes, transparent winged port and clear anoscope kit and bridge. These features allow for better tissue access and visibility and consistent results in purse-string placement, staple formation through DST Series Technology and tissue volume capture and incorporation.

Dr. Sang W. Lee, Associate Professor of Surgery, Section of Colon and Rectal Surgery, New York Presbyterian Hospital, Weill-Cornell Medical College, said, “Before Covidien’s introduction of the EEA Hemorrhoid & Prolapse Stapler Set, I think that the adoption of hemorrhoidopexy was limited, mainly due to the limitations of the device that was available then. Surgeons were frustrated because of poor exposure and difficulties in properly applying the device. I think that Covidien’s new hemorrhoid stapler changes all that. It provides significantly better exposure and clear visualization of underlying anatomic landmarks to facilitate the accurate placement of purse-string sutures, which is the key component of the operation. In my practice, I found that the new Covidien device allows me to provide more consistent results with outstanding clinical performance. I will not perform the procedure without it!”

As part of its commitment to evidence-based medicine, Covidien is organizing a clinical study involving the EEA Hemorrhoid & Prolapse Stapler Set with DST SeriesTechnology. Covidien also is publishing a series of clinical experience papers.

Cure Haemorroids

Suppository casting mould. Used by pharmacists...

Image via Wikipedia

Treatment for hemeroids comes in many forms and you have a great variety when it comes to choosing what to do. The most important thing though is to do anything at all. If you stay inactive your piles will eat you alive and at one point you will neither know how to sit anymore nor how to walk or even stand.

The most common treatment to cure haemorroids is the one doctors usually prescribe: creams and ointments. You apply them on the outer rectal area to soothe it and thus make it easier to pass stool.

Another treatment comes in form of suppositories. For more extreme cases there’s surgery. The problem is that haemorroids can return again and again. So I would recommend this natural 3-step-system which can be implemented in minutes.
