Last Friday something absolutely unexpected happened: I got hemeroids myself. After writing this blog for many months and exploring every kind of cure and way to prevent them I got struck by external piles. The reason was my work routine at the office two days prior.
I had so many meetings, deadlines, phone calls and fires to put out that I could find no time at all to go to the bathroom. This never happened to me before. After two mornings the hemeroids were there. I didn’t realize this at first. It felt like my bowels were full and I just had to go to the toilet one more time to get rid of this awkward feeling.
When I finally went to the toilet I had a very hard time: constipation at its finest. First I forced it to stay in now it wouldn’t come out. If you ever are in this situation try as hard as you can to produce some stool. The longer you wait the longer pressure is exerted on these swollen veins. This is where my piles came from in the first place. So go to the toilet as often as possible even if you don’t deem it necessary.
What else did I do? Of course I drank lots of water to further soften my stool. I have to admit I didn’t change my diet at all. I never had a problem with bowel movements so my diet should be okay in general. I also avoided prolonged sitting and moved as much as possible.
Thank god my hemeroids didn’t bleed. I felt some pressure and itching but it was manageable. It seems I got away with some minor piles. They haven’t disappeared completely but I only feel them twice a day. I hope that they will be gone in the next few days.
